Building Tomorrow's Medicine on Yesterday's Knowledge

This issue of the Journal da Sociedade das Ciências Médicas de Lisboa explores the dialogue between medical heritage, present clinical challenges, and future innovation. From the transformation of medical education to the reassessment of historical concepts such as senile dementia, the volume brings together articles that reflect the importance of critical thinking, scientific memory, and evidence-based practice.

Alongside original research on virtual reality in medical education, obesity treatment, omega-3 fatty acids and ventricular arrhythmias, and targeted therapies in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, this issue also revisits key figures and moments in Portuguese medical history, reaffirming JSCMed’s commitment to rigorous, multidisciplinary scientific communication.
